WHY MASSAGE YOUR DOG?

ImageV1

Many pet owners are developing a heightened awareness of the role of good nutrition, exercise and preventative health care in maintaining and improving the health, well being, and long life of our beloved animals. Massage can be a part of this increasing awareness, and is systematically applied touch for the purpose of relaxation, stress reduction, and improved well being.

Animals like humans are composed of body, mind and spirit, and when in balance animals have optimal health and well being. When out of balance, this contributes to disease and disharmony in the body. Massage like nutrition, acupuncture and other therapeutic modalities, works with all three levels and can play a vital role in maintaining balance.

When an animal is enjoying a massage and is receiving the benefits, they will show signs of relaxation such as yawning. They will lower their heads and begin to lick and chew. Their soft eyes let both the practitioner and the owner know that they are enjoying it. Following a massage the animal should be asked to walk for a few minutes as well as drink some water. Then they should be allowed to have a rest period. Massage for your dog can not only be a great treat, it can be a great asset to performance, health and wellbeing.
